WADDINGTON

Waddington - This is an English locational surname with variations. It originates from any or all of the villages called Waddington, in our case Waddington in the West Riding of Yorkshire,  All derive from the Old English pre 7th Century personal name "Wada", plus "-ing", meaning the tribe or people of", and "tun or ham", a settlement.

We can trace our Waddington family to the villages of Bramham-with Oglethorpe and Clifford, in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
Later on by 1800, the immediate family of Sarah Waddington 1796 - 1870 (Sarah married Samuel Hubbard) had gone to live near Blaby in the county of Leicestershire.
