At Market Bosworth the Evans family opened their home to various pupils from abroad and elsewhere to be part of the larger and local Grammer school. In those days the school would have been tiny by todays standards.

The Phelps cousins on Madeira (Anne's sister Elizabeth DICKINSON married Joseph PHELPS) sent their boys to be educated with uncle Arthur Benoni EVANS and the school at Market Bosworth. The children were treated as family rather than 'borders.'

Of the boys, Joseph Francis, Charles, William and Arthur, it is Arthur Phelps we know the most about from the collection of letters he saved.

We also learn about the individuals who wrote to Arthur - in this case three (now rare) letters by Anne EVANS.
